We have previously reported on the “Switch and Save” campaign launched by the Slovenian Consumer Association (ZPS), which started urging customers to sign up to the bulk energy-buying scheme in late August. 8,000 customers signed up in the first week, and a total of 24,168 customers signed up by October 15 when the deadline expired.
This was followed by an auction the following day. The ZPS says that they managed to reduce the cost of electricity by 21 percent and the cost of natural gas by 15 percent. Gen-I was selected the winner in the electricity category, Energija Plus in the gas category, and Gen-I again in the electricity and gas category.
“The auction was attended by a number of bidders, there was stiff competition in every category, and the auction went on for over six hours, which is longer than what we usually see in similar campaigns,” head of the Slovenian Consumer Association Breda Kutin said.
She added that an average household can expect to save €70 on electricity and €94 on gas bills a year, which is more than a typical monthly bill. By switching both, consumers would save €140.
