The 15-minute hearing was carried out with the help of a court interpreter from French into Serbian/Croatian. Even though Časar appeared in court without an attorney, he agreed to be examined as he wished to return home as soon as possible. During the hearing Časar seemed calm, he was neatly dressed and had a sun tan. The judge inquired about his health, as Časar earlier complained about having problems with his pancreas.

The hearing was open to the public, however recording was not allowed. Časar was driven from prison to court in an armoured car and entered the courthouse building through a special entrance. He was accompanied by officials all along. He was not handcuffed during the hearing.

As Časar has agreed to be extradited we can expect the process of his return to be quick. Another hearing is scheduled for next week. Once the Paris appeals court makes its decision, the French and Slovenian police have 10 days to arrange the procedure of his transfer and book a flight. Parisian law enforcement officers will then take Časar to one of the Paris airports, from where he will be taken over by Slovenian officers, who will then bring the former CEO back home. France is expected to extradite Časar to Slovenia by the 21st of March.

As it's already known, Časar was apprehended last week in the Dominican Republic where he has been residing since 2013. In Slovenia he can look forward to five years and nine months in prison for abuse of office and bribery in connection to real estate deals with port operator Luka Koper.
