The photography workshop will be led by Klemen Razinger, Primož Lukežič, Jaka Gasar, and Andrej Lamut. It will teach participants how to take creative photographs and how to tell a story through them.
The workshop will also feature a number of events aimed at bringing photography closer to the general public. All events are free of charge. “Pasji dnevi” (“Dog Days”), a multimedia project by Ana Straža, will focus on dogs and their owners. A so-called art crawl will take participants through downtown Celje with photographs projected onto the city’s buildings. The most hated photographs from Celje will be showcased on Thursday. Jaka Babnik’s exhibition “Why so serious?” will be opened on Friday, and on Saturday participants can take photographs with a pinhole camera at Josip Pelikan’s photography studio.
Telling stories through the universal language of images
The first Celje Fokus photography workshop was a huge step forward for the Slovenian photography scene. Apart from teaching the basics of photography, the workshop also encourages participants to tell a story through the universal language of images. The workshop holds up a mirror to society and helps a photographer reflect on how his or her work impacts others and how to take photographs that stand out from the crowd.
