The PM said that Slovenia has passed a number of important measures, and that citizens have to understand that we are adopting difficult measures that are a prerequisite for regaining internal and external credibility. According to Cerar, 2015 will go down as a landmark year. Implementing these measures, he promises, will lead to more prosperity.
Cerar highlighted that securing political stability was this government’s key achievement, adding that it has successfully triggered social dialogue. Furthermore, the coalition is united and is reaching out to the opposition.
“By establishing social dialogue, we ensured that issues are settled through dialogue and not on the street,” Cerar said, adding: “This sends positive signals to the EU and to foreign investors.”
Cerar: Slovenia Regaining International Trust
The PM received assurances that Slovenia’s efforts to keep its promises and honour the commitments it made would be appreciated abroad. According to Cerar, Slovenia is regaining international trust, which is reflected in economic growth and lower unemployment figures, and the country has also become more attractive to foreign investors. He maintains that Slovenia is now regaining its lost international reputation.
Slovenia is an equal partner in the EU, Cerar stressed, adding that his government would not allow the country to fall prey, which is what happens when a country becomes weak: The country will prove that it can govern itself and leverage its wealth for the benefit of its citizens.
