The approval of the merger has been announced on the Agency's website. In this way the main barrier has been removed, which had put a stop to the negotiations for sale of Telekom Slovenije to the UK fund Cinven.

Telekom Slovenije, the owner of One, promised to voice a response today, while Telekom Austria, the owner of Vip, has not reacted yet. The Slovenian Sovereign Holding (SDH) announced their intention to formulate their position after being informed of the official position of Telekom Slovenije.

Government still insists on Cinven
According to unofficial information new complications have occurred, this time regarding the purchase price, Mojca Šetinc Pašek and Tea Šavor reported for TV Slovenija. Cinven supposedly does not have a closed financial construction for financing the purchase of Telekom, which is the reason for their attempts to lower the price per share from the present price of 110 to approximately 90 euros.

SDH will hardly be able to accept that, as they are willing to conclude the business under the conditions confirmed last month by the supervisory board. But although it looks as this attempt of sale has come to naught, the government unofficially still endeavours for sale of Telekom to Cinven.

The representatives of Cinven last week supposedly visited the headquarters of SDH, and the representatives of the government. PM Miro Cerar supposedly authorized the Minister of Public Administration Boris Koprivnikar for unofficial discourse. Koprivnikar was unwilling to comment his discussion with the Cinven representatives, was reported by TV Slovenija.

A new player in the race?
Connoisseurs of the sales procedure claim that the main problem with this manner of sale will be the effect it has on the operation of Telekom, as during the sales procedure the company is at a standstill. According to information obtained by TV Slovenia, all the operations have been brought to a stop, which has triggered criticism of the owner, as in this manner the value of the company is being reduced, be that intentional or not.

It seems that Telekom Austria started showing interest in the purchase of Telekom. They could join the sales procedure under the same conditions as Cinven, yet they should offer a higher price.
