The Slovenian Environment Agency (Arso) has tweeted a chart which shows the flow of temperature on different altitudes. It is clear from the chart that temperatures, similar to what one may find in lower altitudes, can now be found at heights of around 2.900 meters above sea level.
According to Arso, the weather deviation will influence daily temperature highs in low-lying areas, which might exceed 15 degrees Celsius in some places. The meteorologist on duty, Veronika Hladnik, says it will be warmest in the south-east of Slovenia, while in central and south-west Slovenia daily highs will only go up to 10 °C. The inversion will last until Thursday. At this point exact predictions for the days after Thursday cannot be made.
The air will be increasingly polluted
The Arso agency has also issued a warning for today and tomorrow that levels of PM10 particles in the air will most likely exceed their maximum limits. The warning is in place for the whole of Slovenia today and for the mainland tomorrow. However, higher levels can also be expected by the sea and in the Primorska coastal region.
Today's weather is mostly clear with occasional scattered clouds. Cloudy spells can be expected mostly in the east and north of Slovenia. Daily highs range from 9 to 15 °C.
