Bulc has also been confirmed as an official candidate by EU's member states.
The new president of the European Commission described his Tuesday head-to-head meeting with Slovenia's candidate for EU Commissioner as "excellent". Today, Juncker's press secretary added that Bulc presented herself as "straightforward, well-prepared and extremely capable of learning fast". The Chief EU Commission Spokesman, Margaritis Schinas, explained that it was then that Juncker got the needed assurance, to welcome Bulc as a member of his team."The conversation with the new president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, was held in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and there was good energy," is what Bulc said after her meeting Juncker. She also added that Juncker "was clear, that he wanted people who knew to lead and capture the essence of the portfolio they were going to take charge of, and its strategy."
As it was previously speculated Juncker has given Bulc the transport portfolio. At the same time the current candidate for Transport and Space Commissioner, Maroš Šefčovič from Slovakia, will now be a candidate for EU Commission Vice-President and Energy Union Commissioner. That, after an agreement between Juncker and the biggest European parliamentary parties, the S&D and the EPP.
