Several names have been mentioned as possible candidates for new Slovenian arbitrator: the constitutional judge, and an expert on international law Ernest Petrič, the legal expert and diplomat Borut Bohte, and the former Slovenian president Danilo Türk, who however denied the allegations of his candidature for the Slovenian member of the Court of Arbitration.
The office of the former president informed the public that Türk learned from media that his name had been mentioned unofficially as one of the candidates for the new arbitrator in Slovenian dispute on border with Croatia. They emphasize that there are no basis for such speculations, as Türk as the president of the republic took part in procedures and preparations of the agreement, and formulation of the arbitration. "These circumstances eliminate the possibility of his appointment as an arbitrator," Türk's office announced.
The Court of Arbitration consists of 5 arbitrators, three appointed from a list prepared by the European Commission, jointly by Slovenia and Croatia, and two arbitrators appointed by the two countries. Slovenia appointed Sekolec, and Coratia Budislav Vukas.
