In that case we would have a six-lane highway in the Primorska (coastal) region. In the plans is also widening the Ljubljana ring, especially the western by-pass.

Ulrich Zorin from Dars rejects remarks that we will not get the much needed highway extensions because of the recently put up noise barriers. Mr. Zorin says the barriers are put up in such a way to allow the emergency lane to become a driving lane. Such measures could come into force in the coming years.

Zorin also rejects criticism that Dars’s teams are not on the ground that much. On the contrary, he says that with their work the company’s road teams ensure the safety and flow of traffic as much as possible. Apart from that, Dars also closely cooperates with the police. Zorin adds that they also support the idea of setting up a highway police. According to Zorin the company is already prepared for it. "It would positively help ensure the safety on the country’s highways, mostly by instructing foreign drivers on correct driving. The biggest problems we have are caused by foreign drivers. However, obtaining the funds and staff for such a project is still an obstacle," Zorin explains.

Those drivers who turn around on highways, who start driving in the opposite direction and cause similar traffic violations are very problematic. Zorin says that they are especially analyzing the situations when drivers start driving in opposite directions. To prevent such things from happening the company is ready to install more equipment, add traffic bollards and put up warnings for older drivers.
