The first series was characterised by challenging condition, with a strong back wind constantly changing its strength, which brought quite a few surprises among the best jumpers. Richard Freitag (Germany) and Daiki Ito (Japan) came closest to Hayböck but fell back in the final series,
Ito to 5th place and Freitag 8th.
Domen jumped to 132 metres in strong back wind, typical of the ski jump under "Angels' Mountain", which was enough for 8th place but reconfirmed his excellent form in second attempt. The 17-year-old Slovenian responded to Andreas Kofler's long jump by landing at 137.5 m with an elegant, calm telemark, earning high marks and a place far ahead of the Austrian jumper.
Kamil Stoch, the winner of the Lillehammer match, as well as Peter Prevc, whose constant jumps in Engelberg indicate he's slowly coming out of crisis in form, did not manage to beat the current leader of the World Cup. Peter had already performed well in the trial series and knew hot to handle the extremely difficult wind conditions of the 1st series by jumping to 6th place with 128.5 m. However, the best jumper of the past winner, who won both matches at the only Swiss competition, encountered problems at the landing stage and fell for the second time this season. He dropped from first to third place in Ruka due to his first accident, while his second fall pushed him to 26th place.
after improving his position from the 1st series by one place, still managing to qualify constantly for the finals. For the first time ever in the World Cup, three brothers participated in a competition. Cene Prevc, the youngest of the Prevc brothers, who shined at the Continental Cup in Vikersund with a strong overall after two wins and one 2nd place, also showed a good performance with his return into the World Cup.
