On Friday Dragonja responded to the happening, which is a rare occurrence. He admitted the mistake of stating outdated data, and took the opportunity to warn that the Port of Koper is doing things in its own way, disregarding the strategy adopted by the state; among other things it is in breach of the concession contract with the state, and is neglecting transparency in investments in public infrastructure. He claims the Port of Koper should be subjected to control by the Court of Audit, and the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia. He believes they should check recruitment of private entrepreneurs by the port, and systematic taxes and charges payment avoidance.
The management of the Port reported him and the head of the SSH Marko Jazbec to the Securities Market Agency for stating outdated data on the Port of Koper and alleged market manipulation. SInce then the story has spread through town - or should we say to the Koper main square, where a protest rally will be organized on Tuesday under the slogan Rise Primorska - Rise Slovenia, with the participation of the union supporters from other state-owned companies.
The departure of Dragonja would coincide with the changes within the strategy of managing state property, to be managed by the Slovenian Sovereign Holding led by Marko Jazbec. Jazbec is on holiday this week, which will most likely help to lower the temperature at the Coast.
