The redesigned bank notes were introduced due to their enhanced security features which should make them more difficult to counterfeit. Their durability has also been improved.
The bank notes feature a series of short raised lines on the edges and a portrait of goddess Europa in the watermark stripe. Moreover, the euro symbol can be seen in the security thread in tiny lettering.
