The bill would bring together law enforcement authorities in a bid to return overpaid funds for the project in the state budget. Experts warn that the whole revision has to be carried out in such a way to avoid unnecessary additional costs. The revision would otherwise only additionaly raise the price of the whole Teš 6 project.
Legal experts have already ascertained that certain parts of the agreement with French Alstom - the main contractor for the construction of Teš 6, can be annulled because of irregularities in public procurement procedures.
Three years ago the Swiss prosecution ruled that Alstom pay 31 million euros in fines and compensation due to corruption in energy projects in Latvia, Tunisia and Malaysia. Similar cases against Alstom are underway in the U.S. and Great Britain.
