The skier from Črna finished seventh in the first run of the giant slalom, staying behind the leading Eva-Maria Brem by 58 milliseconds. In the second run she was the fastest, in spite of a small mistake she made in the middle, thus taking the lead, and remaining the first till the very end.
The second place was surprisingly taken by Sara Hector of Sweden (+0,20), who performed with the number 25. Brem had the 14th time of the second run, but still managed to save the third place on the podium (+0,28).
Tina skis well, and fast, in spite of mistakes
"This is a great victory, today it was rather difficult because of the time difference after the races last week in Canada. But I am getting used to it, it is getting better every day. I am very satisfied, in spite of the mistakes. I made a big mistake in the first run. And in spite of my best intentions I made a mistake in the second run as well. But I ski well, and fast. My skiing in the second run here was exceptional, especially in the second part. As I have already mentioned, the time difference was the most difficult, and adapting to it was crucial," Maze said.
The head of the aMaze team Andrea Massi was very satisfied as well: "In the beginning Maze had some problems concentrating, due to the time difference. The course is not difficult, but the terrain is very rough. The gates in the first run were placed rather apart, the race was tactical. I would grade it with 10 +. She made a mistake in the finals, but her reaction was brutal. Her turns were short, and she increased power in a millisecond. It's what distinguishes her from the others, and the material she uses is of top level. It was a phenomenal race."
Ana Drev and Katarina Lavtar won points as well
After a long period three Slovenians placed into the second run. Thus Ana Drev with 14th place, and Katarina Lavtar who finished as 24th, also won the points.
