The 18th edition of Orto fest was launched on Friday evening with Lačni Franz, who presented their latest album called Ladja norcev (Ship of Fools) but also played their famous songs from the past century such as Praslovan, Zarjavele trobente, Spet na svoji strani, Naj ti poljub nariše ustnice, Čakaj me, Ne mi dihat za ovratnik, Zadnja večerja, Zdravljica, Nova Okupatorka, Bolj star, bolj nor, Ladja norcev, Na muca, na klobaso!, Naš novi bog, Jebiveter Junior, Cmokfehtar, Naj zadnji ugasne luč, Aleluja …
The “new” Lačni Franz band consists of its original frontman Zoran Predin as well as Luka Čadež on drums, Tine Čas on the guitar, bass player Anej Kočevar and keyboard player Boštjan Artiček.
The new version of the band has decided to freshen up the band’s heritage. One third of arrangements were left in their original form, one third was modernised while the remaining repertoire features new songs.
“Lačni Franz is not the kind of band that performs on stadiums and never will be. We never filled arenas and stadiums with our programme. For that, we would have to make another kind of music. However, if we were Chinese, we could even fill arenas since the critical mass of like-minded souls is so huge. But it’s better for us to stay in the milieu that understands us. We’re a boutique band,” explained Predin in an interview for MMC.
Orto to host 35 performers
In addition to rock and metal bands, this year’s Orto fest will offer a diverse mosaique of music genres as well as a few young, aspiring musicians. 35 performers (either bands or solo performers) will take the stage by the end of April.
The list of performers includes Dog Eat Dog, Demolition Group, Noctural Depression, Severa Gjurin, Soen, Madder Mortem, Elvis Jackson, Zmelkoow, Manouche, Warbringer, Havok, Messerschmitt, a former singer of Iron Maiden Blaze Bayley, Benighted, Wormed, Koala Voice, Torul, Avven and Nipke.
