Minister Mramor explained that the incentive for lower taxes for the most productive workers and those with higher salaries had come from the business sector. After the government put the changes to tax legislature up for public discussion, the debate closed on Friday. According to Mramor, all of the additional changes suggested in this way will be taken into account, as long as they refer to reconstructing the taxation rather than a reduction in taxes. “We need 70 million euros, and we need to get them from somewhere by increasing the taxes. We’ve asked the business sector and intend to follow their suggestions,” explained the minister.
In the coming week, the business sector is meeting the finance minister for the first round of talks to determine if the existing set of changes together with new proposals could be put together and pass through the parliament or if the time for public discussion should be extended.
