Guardian published a list of cities suitable for a winter escape, choosing some less prominent destinations, most of which are accessible from the Island by low-cost airlines. Ljubljana found its place among the mentioned cities, and Guardian describes it as 'a lively place', and 'very green'. They praise traffic restrictions within the old city centre, and don't fail to mention the connection with the future First Lady of the USA Melania Trump.
Slovenian vineyards and Bled for the introverted
Recently Slovenia also found its place in the Huffington Post, among the 11 destinations which every introverted person should visit at least once in a lifetime. "The introverted travellers tend to have little desire for big crowds, buzzy hostels and parties that last until dawn. Their idea of a well-balanced trip may look more like time spent alone on a mountain path or exploring quiet pockets of culture," the American website gives its definition of an introverted traveller.
For that purpose 11 places were chosen, from backwoods to coastlines, from capitals to secluded beaches. Bled was chosen from the Slovenian tourist destinations due to its peacefulness, although they admit that this jewel of the Gorenjska region is quite popular among the Slovenians, so they give other suggestions as well, perhaps even more suitable for the introverted - Slovenia's vineyard tours, camping spots, and stunning fields of wildflowers.
