For its biggest Metropol Hotel, the Bernardin Group wants to get 11 million euros, while for the Lucija Hotel they aim to get a million more. Hotela Roža and Hotel Barbara are also on sale. The total price is set at around 29.6 million euros. Hotels, marketed under Metropol Resort brand, are sold separately.
The Bernardin Group refuses to comment the sales procedure. A short while ago the chairman of the board, Marko Jazbec, told Radio Koper that now, once they've managed to reprogram their loans, they would start investing systematically in new tourist capacities and markets: "At the same time intensive activities connected with the elimination of debts and the sale of certain non-strategic real estate and hotels will be carried out."
They are prepared for a long sales process. The group is aware that there is no high demand for tourist facilities. There is great interest, but not among serious buyers. Istrabenz has been selling its Hotel Kempinski for four years now. It spent around 100 million euros only for its renovation, and today the selling price of 40 million still seems too high.
The Bernardin Group is 50 million euros in debt. Last year's income stood at 37 million euros, with losses amounting to 2 million euros. They are satisfied with the results of the first quarter, however there's still a long way to go until the end of the year…
