He was a co-creator of the golden years of the Slovenian film, and of radio reporting. He was born in Kranj on March 11, 1931 into a family well known for their talent for acting. He acted in the Prešeren theatre in Kranj, and City Theatre in Ljubljana. In 1953 he became an instant star, together with Metka Gabrijelčič, with his memorable role of the student Samo in Vesna, the film remembered by several generations of Slovenian people. In the following years the sequel, Don't wait until May, was made, while he also won his reputation of a legend of the Slovenian film with his role in the film Moments of Decision (Trenutki odločitve).
In 1968 he joined the then Radio Ljubljana as a sports reporter. He was the editor of the sports editorship from 1984 to 1990; during this period the editorship won the Bloudek award for their creative contribution to the development of sport in Slovenia, mainly for their participation in making people aware of the importance of recreation. In 1993 he was awarded the Bloudek plaquette for his contribution to the development of radio sports journalism. As the sports holiday in Planica is approaching, we mostly remember him for his numerous reports from ski jumping matches; just as memorable are his commentaries of the achievements of the Petrič brothers at swimming competitions. Especially the sports reporters from Radio Slovenija will remember him as an excellent mentor, and a worthy role model.
