Drobnjak has been the key player of the surprising Tajfun's ascent to the top of state championship. In addition to his performance on the court, the experienced Kranj-born player has left an extraordinary imprint as the team leader, contributing a significant share to the success of the team from Šentjur. Drobnjak, who had also been named the most valuable player in the final series of the Telemach League, will receive his award at Sunday's All Stars game in Vrhnika.
Dragić will pick up his award for best Slovenian basketball player when he returns to Slovenia. The 29-year-old NBA player from Ljubljana transferred from Phoenix to Miami in February. Miami offered him the highest-paying contract in the history of Slovenian sports. For the first time in his career, Dragić decided not to participate on the national team this summer but explained that he had been forced to do so for a number of reasons, and announced he would be available again as the captain of the Slovenian team for as long as he could play.
The best young player award is already in the hands of Dončić, the 16-year-old rising star of European basketball who is already a member of Real Madrid's main team, the current European champion. Dončić is the youngest player ever to play for Madrid's giant and has been given the opportunity to play in the Euroleague matches this year.
The best coaches of this past basketball season are Dejan Mihevc, who leads Tajfun's male team, and Damir Grčić of the Athlete Celje female team.
