M-elect Miro Cerar called the European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker today to discuss the appointment of commissioners.

Cerar expressed support for the candidates of two coalition parties, namely MEP Tanja Fajon from the Social Democrats and Karl Erjavec from the Pensioners’ Party. Even if Fajon is selected for the post, the decision is not expected to complicate relations in the coalition. Junker will start forming the final list of candidates for commissioners next week.

Meanwhile Cerar is holding meetings with several ministerial candidates and is trying to form a new government with 15 ministries.
