Government to Debate the 2014 Budget

The government is expected to meet today for a deliberation on the budget for the next two years. Because of a deep recession, deficit reduction is painful. With this year's amending budget, the government increased the budget deficit by 4.4 percent of GDP, next year it should be around 3 per cent and then drop to 2.5 percent. Because this year's budget will also be prepared under the watchful eye of the European Commission, the government will not be able to afford deviations.
