“According to article 145 of the Criminal Procedure Act,all state agencies having public authority – and this includes the health ministry – must report criminal offences liable to public prosecution of which they have been informed. After a thorough review, the health ministry has found irregularities in granting licenses to private health practitioners. In late 2016, health minister Milojka Kolar Celarc therefore filed criminal complaints against three former health ministers. The minister will continue todo what the law requires of her,” said the health ministry in a press release.
In late January, former health minister and DeSUS MP Tomaž Gantar confirmed that a criminal complaint has been filed against him over irregularities in granting licenses to private health practitioners during his term as health minister. He said back then that he has not yet read the criminal complaint, but he believes that “someone is trying to play tricks on him.”
According to daily Dnevnik, the other two former health ministers are Andrej Bručan and Zofija Mazej Kukovič.
