The bus to Pokljuka is intended both for tourists and local inhabitants. They can switch buses as much as they like, which allows them to see the local sights – the Pokljuka gorge, the largest fossil gorge in Slovenia, the Javornik mountain with pastures for livestock where dairy products are made, and the Goreljek peat bog, the southernmost high peat bog in Europe.
The tourist bus will be useful to hikers heading towards the Triglav mountain range for several days, who have the intention to return to the valley from another direction. The Rudno field is a popular starting point for an ascent to Triglav, while Pokljuka gives a number of possibilities for mountaineering trips, e.g. to the summit of Galetovec offering a nice view, or to viewpoints overlooking the Upper Bohinj valley, passing the church of St. Cross where Valentin Vodnik used to preach.
The guided trips with a guide from the Triglav National Park through the Pokljuka forests, bogs, and mountains bring additional value to the tourist bus. The cost of a guided tour is 10 euros for adults, and free of charge for children; this weekend the guided tours are free of charge.
From June 27 to August 30, the Hop-on Hop-off buss will drive passengers on Sundays and Saturdays three times a day. The daily ticket for unlimited use of the tourist bus costs 5 euros, and it is free of charge for children up to ten years of age. Bus ride is free of charge also for the owners of a Bohinj Guest Card, when they start the ride in the Bohinj municipality.
As for two previous years, the Hop-on Hop-off bus will drive passengers not only to Pokljuka, but also from Bled to the Radovljica municipality, each Tuesday to Kropa, and each Thursday to Begunje and Brezje.
