Youth hotels or hostels seem the right decision. In Piran most of them are fully occupied, and it is expected to remain so at least until the end of August.
"We arrived yesterday morning, and we will be leaving within an hour. We were here just for a day, but it was wonderful, we really enjoyed our stay, it is a lovely town. And they serve a great breakfast, I must say," a tourist from Austria was full of praise.
Travellers from all over the world, more and more often from as far as Brazil, are discovering the Mediterranean, and spend a day or two at the Slovenian coast. Some remain longer, for five days, while families sometimes stay even for a fortnight.
Borut Valenčič, the co-owner of the company B&B Miracolo di mare from Piran, explained: "Germans are coming back; they were used to cheaper flights and all inclusive holidays on the Mediterranean, and here they feel safe and make pleasant guests."
And safety, good food, kind people, and green environment are the reasons for the number of tourists in Izola. We spoke to another guest from Austria who intended to come back to Izola soon, for another vacation. "I plan to come from Austria to Izola by motorcycle, and to sleep in this youth hotel," he said.
"In the past we had a lot of guests just passing through, but now also those just travelling through decide on the spot, book a room through one of the world agencies while strolling through town, and within a minute they are already at our door," explained Drago del Fabro from the Izola Hostel.
On July 1 they started accepting tourists also in the Koper University dorms, which will remain available until the middle of September. "During that time we offer to our guests bed and breakfast, accommodation with breakfast and dinner, or with all meals included. We mainly get individual guests, or organized groups," Alja Mihalič from the Dijaški in študentski dom Koper Hostel.
A lot will be going on in Koper as well in coming weeks, from sport events to the climax of the summer – the Yellow Night.
