Slovenia announced the privatisation of Telekom Slovenije last June, and since then the interest in purchasing shares has soared. The list of buyers includes politicians, the so-called transition-era tycoons as well as trade unions. Due to exceptional interest the share price has increased by half within a year, to over 140 euros.
A financial company owned by Darij Južna, a transition-era tycoon, purchased almost 50,000 shares of Telekom in the past year and paid at least EUR 5 million for them. Južna has refused to comment, but believes the sale will succeed this time.
