The week is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the Red Cross fundamental principles.
The Secretary General of Red Cross Slovenia, Renata Brunskole, says the seven fundamental principles, which include humanity, neutrality and voluntary service, bring together all the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. The seven principles were adopted at the 20th international conference in Vienna in 1965.
Three million special postage stamps have been issued as part of Red Cross Slovenia Week. Also issued are 25.000 additional passenger tickets, which will be available at 17 cents at the country's bus and train stations.
All the proceeds will go to humanitarian programs which will help the most vulnerable groups in society.
