The decision to close the border was made by the Council of National Security of Hungary. PM Viktor Orban after the EU summit in Brussel had emphasized that all the conditions for closure of the border had been met, and that the same level of security as on the border with Serbia would be assured. He repeated that the countries of the Visegrad group assured their help in safeguarding the border, also with soldiers.

On Thursday 4,808 migrants arrived to Hungary, mostly from Croatia.
