"In the wake of today’s meeting between Olympia’s president and the coach, President Milan Mandarić will announce his final decision about Igor Bišćan’s future with the team on Tuesday," reads a press release by Olimpija, which managed to become both the championship and the cup winner this season.

But even though the team is holding back information, rumors about Bišćan having to leave the team are becoming increasingly loud, even though the Croatian expert still has a year left on his contract.

Towards the end of the season, Olimpija’s fans frequently chanted Bišćan’s name and thereby made it clear that they want him to continue as coach. However, the team’s president, Milan Mandarić, will have the last word. He has criticized Olimpija’s gameplay several times, alleging that it wasn’t aggressive enough. He was also bothered that Olimpija had not become the national champion earlier, and that Bišćan should have given more opportunities to younger, home-grown players.

Bišćan joined Olimpija last year, after taking Croatia’s Rudeš from the Second to the First League. He coached Olimpija in 42 games with only four losses. Should he leave the team, former Slovenian national team manager Slaviša Stojanović is considered to be among the likely candidates for the job.

Uremović heads to Russia in exchange for hefty compensation
Olimpija’s first defender Filip Uremović has signed a contract with Rubin Kazan of Russia. The 21-year-old Croatian, who joined Olimpija during the winter transfer period, is leaving his team in exchange for a significant compensatory payout, says Olimpija, which will also receive a percentage from the player’s next sale.
