The summer schedule with a number of novelties for the Ljubljana airport enters into force on Sunday. The Ljubljana Airport informed us that this summer more destinations will be available than last year. Passengers will be able to fly directly from the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport to 27 European destinations, and choose from more than 160 regular flights per week, with nine regular airlines.

Swiss Air is the new airline to operate from Ljubljana; Turkish Airlines is increasing the number of flights to Istanbul, while Adria Airways is introducing flights to Stockholm and Berlin, and to London from the Maribor Airport. Adria Airways has scheduled two flights a week to Stockholm, on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first flight to the capital of Sweeden was scheduled for April 23, and the first flight to Berlin, scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, was planned for April 24. Adria Airways is also becoming more and more present in Tirana (Albania) and Lodz (Poland).

Swiss Air will be connecting Ljubljana and Zürich daily, and Turkish Airlines will add three more flights to the seven weekly flights already connecting Ljubljana and Istanbul. Finnair is returning to Brnik for the summer with four weekly flights to Helsinki.

The other airlines have preserved their previous number of flights. Air Serbia offers ten flights a week to Belgrade, and Air France flies daily to Paris. The budget airliners Easyjet and Wizz Air have also kept the same number of weekly flights to London, as well as flights to Brussels. During the summer Ljubljana will be connected with Podgorica five times a week through flights by Montenegro Airlines.

From Maribor to London
Since June 1, Adria Airways will fly three times a week to London's Southend Airport from Maribor as well, i.e. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday evenings. The plane tickets will be sold at very favourable prices, and the agreement regarding flights from Maribor is for now made until the end of September.

Besides Adria, in summer months also Freebird and Aegean companies will fly from Maribor, continuing the already established charter routes of tourist agencies. Some more lines might be soon introduced, recently in Baku the possibility of a connection with the capital of Azerbaijan was discussed. "Between 3,000 and 4,000 persons come from Azerbaijan to Rogaška Slatina only, where they are most interested in this route. It is a realistic plan which might be realized already in this year. The local tourist economy is very interested in regular connections with Russia, and we have already started discussing it with Adria," director of the Maribor Airport Marko Gros explained.

Where to in Russia is still to be determined, he said, as the most profitable location must be chosen, based on the interest of the local tourist services providers. For future they are considering additional destinations in Europe; Adria would offer low-budget flights, as according to Gros they are capable of offering competitive prices of airport services compared to neighbouring airports.
