This trail got almost twice as many votes from hikers as the runner-up, another circular trail: Aljažev Dom in the Vrata Valley–Bovški Gamsovec–Sternar–Aljažev Dom in the Vrata Valley. Organizers nominated 60 trails for the vote, which took place as part of the Let’s Clean the Mountains campaign in association with the Alpine Association of Slovenia.

The winning trail combines two magnificent hiking experiences in the heart of the Julian Alps: a route connecting the dairy pastures of the Bohinj Valley with spectacular high-altitude hikes in the Triglav Lakes Valley. Some stretches of the trail are marked as easy, while others are classified as challenging. Experts advise would-be hikers to use proper equipment. Because snow is still present in several areas, they should consider having ice axes and crampons. Without intermediate stops, the trail takes an average hiker about 11 hours of walking.
