The Jenko Prize for the best collection of poems in the last two years is given by the Slovene Writers Association.
The winner of the Jenko Prize Anja Golob said that it is our civilizational duty to help people. In her opinion there is no poetry without humanity, and that there are also poets among the refugees.
Niko Grafenauer, the first to receive the Jenko Prize, remembered the times the Jenko prize was given for the first time. The poet Ifigenija Simonović, the representative of the Slovene Writers Association, expressed her worries that today a lull can be noticed also among poets.
This year the jury had nominated for the Jenko Prize also the poet Meta Kušar with her collection Azur, and three other poets: Blaž Iršič, the author of the Poetry for Auto Mechanics (Poezije za avtomehanike), Uroš Prah for Tišima, and Tone Škrjanc for Sweet Buns (Sladke pogačice).
