In his telephone discussion with Juncker, Cerar emphasized that besides helping the refugees more attention should be paid to the presently most exposed member states, and assure funds for establishment of suitable multipurpose reception centres at the outside borders of the EU, and in strategically important third countries. The Slovenian PM also warned that aid should be extended to the countries of the West Balkans which are also struggling with the refugee crisis.
He explained the current situation to the president of the European commission, and the Slovenia's efforts for solving the refugee migration dynamics. He said that at the moment Slovenia is completely in control of the situation, and expects the other member states to do the same. Juncker's opinion of the way Slovenia is managing the situation is very positive. If necessary, the Commission is willing to help Slovenia in solving the problem with refugees. Juncker also informed Cerar of the Commission's activities for a prompt and efficient response of the EU in the most exposed member states, and in the neighbourhood.
