"Warner Bros contacted us through Nike Records," Janez Bončina – Benč explained for MMC. The song has an interesting history. "I wrote it for the September band, and it landed on the album Zadnja avantura. Peter Čare, the bass singer of the Slovenian octet, sang with the choir the introductory sounds; the exquisite arrangement was the first made by Peter Ugrin. The track Majko Zemljo by Tihomir Pop Asanović was sang by Josipa Lisac," Benč explained.
It is not the first time a song which was included in the album Zadnja avantura in 1976 became a part of hip hop culture. Last year a 'sample' from the song was used by the Irish rapper Kojaque. The composition of the song convinced also the producer of 9th Wonder, whose name is signed below Duckworth.
The fact that the rapper from Compton used these musical patterns Benč considers a confirmation. "It is obvious that we made, and are still making good and honest music. But it was not the first time my compositions were used in different forms. Let me mention an interesting detail – recently we found long lost recordings of the American version of the album of the September group, recorded during our tour in Florida," the musician explained.
Enviable success of DAMN. album
DAMN. Album keeps breaking records. During its first week on the Billboard chart it climbed to the top of the best sold albums of the year. In one week Lamar sold 603,000 copies of the album, and thus did better than rapper Drake's album More Life (505,000 copies sold in the first week), according to results of Nielsen Music research. Damn. is the rapper's third album to take the first place on the Billboard chart (similar success was achieved by the albums Untitled Unmastered and To Pimp a Butterfly).
According to data from the Billboard web portal, at the moment every single track from the album is on their list of the 100 hottest songs. The very top is taken by the single Humble by which Lamar had announced the release of the album. This week the track Duckworth. took 63th at its first placement on the chart.
