The mysterious bunker Škrilj, which was built after the World War II, and in which the political and military leadership hid during the potential internal or external danger, has been since June visited by more than 8 thousand people.
The Bearlog hostel and the campsite near the Kočevje Lake are also quite occupied, and this is exactly where they are trying to expand their offer.
According to Vesna Malnar Memedovič, the director of the Public Institute for Culture and Tourism, they are planning a new programme, intended especially for the target group of visitors near and on the Kočevje Lake.
This year, the lake and the campsite next to it were visited by numerous guests from 14 different European countries, and about half of the visitors were from Slovenia. The hostel Bearlog, which is also managed by the institution, was fully booked.
Kočevje also urgently needs a higher category hotel, because the Japanese Yaskawa is already building a large factory there, and there is going to be a lot more demanding guests visiting the town, also added Vesna Malnar Memedovič.
