"Also Kočevje would welcome the building of the new European robot factory by Yaskawa Electric from Japan," the mayor of Kočevje Vladimir Prebilič said for the STA. He expects a favourable outcome for the Ribnica-Kočevje region.
Prebilič, who was the only representative of the Slovenian municipalities in Frankfurt on Monday, attended the Yaskawa press conference with the presentation of plans and projects for Europe. He said that Kočevje is not hiding its ambitions, and that they came to Frankfurt with the intention of showing their willingness, and determination to participate in the mentioned project.
The final decision on location of the factory is completely in the hands of the owners of the corporation, he emphasized, and explained that besides Ribnica and Kočevje, the other options are Murska Sobota and Pivka. Prebilič reminded that the railway connecting Kočevje with the central part of the country is being modernized and re-established, and expressed his conviction that Kočevje is a suitable location for the new factory.
200 new jobs
The Japanese corporation Yaskawa Electric on Monday confirmed that the new robot factory will be built in Slovenia, and that three Slovenian towns are still considered. The EUR 25 m investment will create 170 to 200 jobs, and Slovenia will support it with an incentive of 20 to 25% of the project value.
