At the press conference Koritnik announced even more rigorous safety measures, with the purpose of assuring undisturbed operation of the block during the possible continuation of the strike in future days.
The increased number of rented security guards gives the impression of state of emergency at Teš. The employees seem to be afraid of talking to journalists, and the president of the trade union Danijel Tajnik said that in spite of the pressure, fear of sanctions and announced assessment of redundancies, the strike took place in all the parts of the company, except at the block six.
Director Arman Koritnik claims that the right to strike has not been violated for anybody, and that the access to the control room of the sixth block was prevented only to those who had no business there, in order to assure the unhindered operation of the block. Koritnik says he will not allow the sixth block, nor Teš as a whole, to be bossed around by the strike committee.
For now no discipline measures have been taken against the strikers, with the exception of one person who was given reprimand before notice after taking over unauthorised control of the sixth block.
On the fourth day of the general strike in the electricity sector approximately 3,000 employees were on strike between 8 and 10 a.m., and again the happening in Termoelektrarna Šoštanj was in the foreground.
Two requests
As it has already been reported, the purpose of the strike are two demands directed to the government, and the wish to initiate a concrete, professional dialogue on problems the electricity sector is facing. The government should, in cooperation with all the interested parties, form and bring into force a decision on restructuring and organisation of the Slovenian electricity sector in order to preserve safe and reliable operation of the energy system.
The other demand is to suspend all unilateral activities related to layoffs under the pretence of alleged rationalisation and optimisation within the electricity sector.
