2015 is a year of celebration for Laibach, a renowned music and cross-media group from Slovenia. The group is celebrating its 35th anniversary of their music presence and of setting new milestones, big and small. For the tour around North America, the band also resorted to the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo, collecting over 47,000 euros. “In this way, we can check fairly exactly how much of an actual support we have across the world, and at the same time these campaigns serves as quality promotion activities,” explained Ivan Novak, a member of Laibach, for MMC.

Their next stop is North Korea, but before that the band is stopping in their hometown to celebrate the anniversary, which coincides with the day the Americans celebrate their independence. At the Workers’ Hall in Trbovlje, the group will also present part of the repertoire the band plans to present in North Korea. The setlist will include Laibach’s makeover covers of famous songs from the musical The Sound of Music, such as The Sound of Music, Do-Re-Mi, Climb Every Mountain and Edelweiss, as well as interpretations of selected North Korean songs and anthems.
