“Our goal is a promenade with quality design that would emphasize the value of Bled as a symbol of Slovenia,” points out the director of the municipal corporation Matjaž Berčon. The purpose of the project is to design the promenade as a comprehensive spatial intervention that would realise the promenade’s potentials to their fullest, and become a central public space reserved primarily for pedestrians but also a popular space renowned for its quality.
From façades to street lightning
The scope of the competition includes tending the promenades, planting the vegetation, renovating the façades on some buildings, the outdoors of restaurants and bars, street lightning and other equipment as well as temporary buildings.
The cost of the promenade’s renovation is estimated at five million euros. Works will be performed in several phases. The first two will be completed fairly fast, while the last phase, renovations by the Grand Hotel Toplice, will need to wait for the construction of the southern bypass, which is planned for the year 2021.
