Women eat more fruit and vegetables than men do. Around 63% of women consume healthy foods once a day, while only 45% of men do the same. The World Health Organization recommends that at least 400 grams of veggies should be consumed daily, however most countries do not reach that number.
A variety of fruit and vegetables should be eaten daily. Many countries try to encourage people to eat more healthy foods with various campaigns. A research leader at the Nutrition Institute says that educated and older people eat more veggies. Her team also pointed out that vegetables are a much better source of vitamins than fruit.
Most vitamin C can be found in green and red peppers, blackberries, kiwi and citrus fruits. Contrary to popular belief Lemons contain three times less Vitamin C than for example green peppers. Researchers also pointed out that it was important to combine different fruits and veggies to get the best nutrients possible.
