"My journey was successful – I came to the finish line from the other side, and my measuring instrument worked faultlessly all the time," Lenarčič said for TV Slovenija. "I have a real problem with bureaucratic obstacles – I have to deal with people who are just like me, but can't, or refuse to think. Russia used to be the synonym for flight bureaucracy, but today America took its place. It turned out they had created a problem where none existed, and the complication was quite absurd… But we managed to solve it in four days, thanks to our diplomacy which distinguished itself," he explained his view on the problems he had with the American traffic controllers in Hawaii, and with bureaucracy.
He flew through all kind of weather, which made it interesting – just as the things in life which are uncertain make it longer and more interesting, he explained. He also explained his statement that our planet was not overcrowded; he said it referred to the hysteria caused by the refugee crisis. "We are all aware that these migrations have been caused by us who live in the west, by our way of life and by interfering into their lives, while on the other hand we prevent the entrance to these people, and want to close the door for them. It is complete nonsense," he concluded.
The purpose of Lenarčič's flight was also to measure the levels of the global polluter, black carbon. The new instrument for measuring black carbon was thus an important piece of equipment; the instrument was perfected by the Aerosol company.
His travel around the world was a part of the GreenLight WorldFlight project. Within this project Lenarčič for the first time travelled around the world already in 2012, and in 2013 he flew across the North Pole. The projects have proved that the combination of development activities and ultralight plane brings a new paradigm in measuring black carbon in a decentralised, simple and relatively cheap way.
