Only one day after the ceremony held on June 27, 1991, the Yugoslav army executed strong pressure on Slovenia, with the intention of taking away Slovenia’s independence which was almost unanimously voted for by the citizens of Slovenia. One day all medias were flooded by photographs of smiling deputies of the Slovenian Parliament, proud members of the Slovenian government, and faces of happy citizens celebrating independence in streets of Slovenian towns; for the next ten days those images were replaced by photographs of barricades, shot damaged buildings and worried people.
Many journalists, photographers and other citizens took pictures of the events, among them also Stane Sršen, photographer of RTV Slovenija. He was among those who made lasting records of the capital during the ten-day war for independent and free Slovenia.
Photographs of Ljubljana and its surroundings taken by Stane Sršen are published for the first time. You can find them in the Gallery below.
