Reinforced police forces walked out of an apartment building in Lucija on Wednesday around 7 p.m. and detained a woman who locked herself in her apartment. Due to an eviction notice she threatened to blow herself up with three gas cylinders.

TV Slovenia journalist Eugenija Carl informed that alongside the woman the police also took away two other persons – the woman’s sister and her supporter. The police is now investigating the scene. Those who live in the building, and were evacuated for 11 hours, can now start returning to their apartments.

The whole drama began in the morning, when the police escorted eviction officers to the apartment. The officers found the woman, who was supposed to be evicted from the apartment, sitting on a gas cylinder. The police immediately secured the area and evacuated the building. Koper police press officer, Anita Leskovec, explained that a negotiator was also called to the scene.

The woman later allowed one of her close supporters into the apartment, who then surrendered two out of the three gas cylinders to the police. Tens of police officers, a police negotiator, firefighters and civil protection officers (who also set up an inflatable mattress in front of the building) were all at the scene. Also present was the mayor of Piran, Peter Bossman.
