110 workers are currently employed at the Magna Nucleus in Hoče. Some are already working, but most of them are still on training courses in Graz, Austria. They are scheduled to start working in the autumn, when equipment testing will start.
Head of the Hoče facility, David Adam, says that "‘the contracting company Dur, which is assembling the equipment, is working according to plan. Every day, there are approximately 400 people working on the building site and our plan remains to start testing the equipment in the autumn.’
The hiring process is ongoing and should be completed by spring. ‘As we have said, we will employ 400 people, depending on production needs."
Besides considerations of employment and salaries, the levels of which are still not entirely clear, there has been a lot of talk regarding the water supply and sewage systems. Magna says that both systems are currently being built, and approximately one kilometre of old asbestos pipes has already been replaced with their own funds.
They have been assured that a railway track leading directly into the plant will be laid as part of the first phase. Regarding the second phase, for which Magna has already submitted an application for environmental approval, David Adam will only say that they are still seeking customers.
Last year Magna’s profit increased by 8,2% and unofficial information suggests that interest for their services surpasses their production capacity.
