"Denmark was quick in the attack and put the ball ahead before an offence. They’re very good in this, and we tried to solve it. Sometimes we succeeded, sometimes not, but unfortunately they were better this time. We also fought for the many fans who came to support us, we were very happy but this time it did not work. We have two matches left. We are going to win aim for victory," emphasizes Marguč.
Lesjak: We were keeping up with them for a long time
Goalkeeper Urban Lesjak shares Marguč’s view: "If we had managed to curb the Germans in their movement toward a counter-attack, we failed to do so this time. I think we got more than a half of the goals from their extended semi counter-attack. We received too many easy goals. It’s good that we didn’t give up before the match, as happened the last time we had played against (t/n: at the Olympic Games). We were keeping up with them for a long time, but when we made two or three mistakes, they leapt forward and did not let us close until the end. We have two more matches to play. It won’t be hard to find motivation. We’re playing at the European championship, representing Slovenia. We owe it to ourselves and to the people who support us to play two more matches at our maximum, and we want two more victories before the championship ends for us.”
Žabič: Heads up and go on
"I cannot shake loose of the feeling that we could get more out of this match. We were keeping up, but then a mistake took place that made us fall behind. A team like Denmark takes advantage of every mistake. Heads up, we need to forgot this as soon as possible. We’re playing against a new team three days for now and we need to have our heads up. We have to focus and clear our heads. Let’s go on," adds Igor Žabič.
Slovenia will play the next match on Tuesday at 6:15 p.m. against Spain, and is facing the Czech the day after that at 4:00 p.m. The chances for qualifying into the semi-finals are very slim, but hope is the last to die.
