The director and owner of Aviofun, Damijan Cehner secured the funding for the Aerodrom Maribor acquisition himself after experiencing delays in acquiring funds from foreign partners. He says he still hopes foreign investors would step in down the line. Cehner has not disclosed his plans for the airport, but suggested a possibility of cooperation with the Slovenj Gradec airport. He added, he did not know of any airport that would not operate in the black.
According to the companys annual report, Aerodrom Maribor had a revenue of EUR 488,000 in 2012, which meant an over 16% down of revenue in comparison to 2011. Their net profit in the same report was EUR 15,000, which is less than a tenth of that in 2011.
Aviofun, on the other hand, had their revenue rise 23% year-on-year to EUR 883,000. Their net profit was down slightly in 2012 from the year before to EUR 15,000.
