Between this Friday and next Saturday, festival goers will be able to visit as many as 50 venues and 380 events. This year's organizers have paid a special tribute to the 30th anniversary of Folkart, a folk festival from which Festival Lent actually evolved.
According to the head organiser, Vladimir Rukavin, the festival's budget has approached 1.2 million euros this year. Maribor organisers are quite dissatisfied with the attitude the government has towards the festival, as it has only approved € 30,000 from the state budget for the programme, while the city municipality, on the other hand, contributes 350,000 euros of budget money. The organisers have to gather gap funds with the help of sponsors and donors as well as by selling tickets.
However, according to Rukavina, Lent is not just a festival, but an experience. "It is the largest multicultural and multi-genre summer festival in our region, offering countless opportunities for moments that always leave an impression on the visitors," he explained.
