The memorial service was organized by the anti-communist New Slovenian Testament associations, and the local parish of Teharje.
Germans built the Teharje war camp during the Second World War, locking up those who helped defend the town of Celje. The camp was closed after the war only to be reopened at the end of 1945, when it imprisoned around 5,000 members of the Home Guard anti-partisan movement who were executed without a trial a month or two after the end of the war.
