On 15 March, a verbal altercation broke out after a match in Ljubljana. Allegedly, Kostić (Olimpija) and former Olimpija coach Milorad Kosanović directed racial slurs at Mendy (Maribor).

NZS’s disciplinary body now dropped the charges against Kostić, Mendy and Kosanović due to a lack of sufficient evidence. The Football Association of Slovenia has said that as an association they have a zero tolerance policy towards racism.
