In Ljubljana the Ment Festival is beginning. It is the central winter festival event, bringing abundance of fresh music from all over Europe into our capital, while the conference part gives emphasize to novelties and trends within the music industry.
The third edition of the music festival and conference adheres to the concept which has proved successful: interesting names from the world of music industry and a fair share of new music. 60 performers – both alternative and midstream – will appear on several stages in different parts of the capital during next three days. Kino Šiška, as the central stage, will host the conference part during the day, and in the evening the action will spread also to Metelkova, Stara mestna elektrarna, and this year also to Pritličje.
Since Ment is a kind of a showcase festival, there are no big music names among the performers. But there is a number of promising musicians, from the Baltic to Italy, from Russia to Island, who will be given the chance to appear in front of the industry representatives, including Jonathan Poneman, founder of the Sub Pop editing house from Seattle, which brought about the blossoming of grunge in the 90s with bands as Nirvana and Soundgarden.
